House Cleaning Sunday

It was nice to finally have a day off from work. There was a lot of stuff to do around the house and Emily wasn’t feeling good because she is starting to get her two upper teeth. Because of this, me and Emily stayed home from church.

This week was Jennifer’s turn to teach Children’s Church. During the 11:00 worship, they have a little “children’s moment” for three year olds through first grade. After that is done, the kids go off to another building for “Children’s Church”. Jennifer volunteered to teach it once a month. She’s been scrounging for subjects to teach and finally went to a Christian bookstore the other day and picked up a Veggie Tales video to get some inspiration. I don’t really understand the fascination with animated vegetables. Maybe it’s because I’m not a real big vegetable eater. They watched a video about the “Good Samaritan” and then discussed what it meant to be one.

Meanwhile, I started laundry and cleaned up the laundry room. The top of the dryer had become a “catch all” for all kinds of Jennifer’s projects. That all got cleaned up and moved into the garage and I hung up a ironing board hanger so that the ironing board could be out of the way and not just leaning up against the wall.

After dinner we drove down to Baskin Robbins to get some ice cream because Abby said, “I ate all of my dinner so I need ice cream.” Afterwards we drove around Lake Mary. We’ve been up in the area for four months and I’m amazed how much I haven’t seen. It seems like day in and day out I’m just driving from work and to home and that is it. On the weekends, I’m just hanging around the house before it all starts back up on Monday. It was nice to drive around and see the area. Now that we are in Alpha, it might not be until July when I actually get to slow down and see the area.

Today’s picture is from yesterday’s trip to the beach. Abby playing in the sand.

New Best Friends

Today Jennifer and the girls went to the park in the new bike buggy. Abby once again met a new “best friend”. Abby was amazed by all the kids playing soccer. We may have to get her into soccer next year. I think she would probably be pretty good at it.

Today was the first manditory twelve hour day at work and it really felt like a long day. At least I’m home at a reasonable hour.

Today’s picture is from last week’s Easter egg hunt: me and Emily walking down by the lake in Winter Park.

Busy Sunday

While Saturday wasn’t very busy, Sunday went by really quick because we had so much to do today.

Ever since we bought the bike buggy, I haven’t been able to park in the garage. So, today we rearranged some items in order to be able to pull my truck in. The Halloween and Christmas decorations finally made it up into the attic.

We also finally got around to going through all of our files and shredding everything from 2002. This is something I usually do in January, but with the move into the new house I never got the chance. We also used this as an opportunity to clean the upstairs office. Especially since George is going to be coming to visit in a couple of weeks and this will be my last full weekend until the end of June because I will be busy at work.

I wanted to reclaim that room for my own. I moved the TiVo that was in the kids’ playroom up there and have it recording my programs only. I now have my laptop docked up there and I’m going to try and start using the upstairs room as my office. It’s pretty hard to use it when the kids are up because they find me and then they terrorize all the books that are up on the shelves, which means that I cannot get anything done because I’m constantly tracking them down.

I thought I would post a picture from the Super Bowl. I never posted any of the pictures up on the web site back in February.

October 2003

For October we had lots of activity. Emily has started to walk as her primary mode of transportation. She is much more interactive and greets me at the top of the stairs when I come home from work every day.

On October 9th, Jennifer and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. We got a baby sitter and went out to eat at the Melting Pot restaurant.

On October 11th, Jennifer and I pretended we were not married to see if it would help the Texas Longhorns beat the University of Oklahoma. The Longhorns haven’t beat OU since we were married in 1999. It didn’t work. Texas lost 65-13.

On October 14th, we all went to Disney World’s Not So Scary Halloween. This is where they open up the part in the evening and all the kids get to wear the costumes and get candy. Both Abby and Emily had lots of fun riding the Dumbo and Tea Cup ride. According to Abby, she was dressed as “a princess” and Emily went as “a fairy”.

On October 18th, we went to the Electronic Arts-Tiburon Fall Festival. There was a hamburger cookout and there was games and rides for the kids. Abby had fun on the giant inflated slide and the merry-go-round. She also showed off her monkey bar skills on the playground.

October 25th, was the Winter Park First United Methodist School Fall Festival. This was a fund raiser for Abby’s school. There was clowns, pony rides, games, and other activities. Abby had lots of fun.

October 26th, George & Heather flew down in order for us to go to the Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers football game. The game wasn’t that exciting as the Cowboys were easily defeated by the Bucs 16-0.

For Halloween Abby had a Halloweek party at her school along with a costume parade. Later the girls came up to where I work and we did our trick-or-treating at Electronic Arts-Tiburon. The “princess” and “fairy” collected way too much candy wandering from cubicle to cubicle.

Easter 2003

This year’s Easter was very eventful for the French family. Here is some pictures from Easter weekend 2003.

The weekend started very early Saturday morning when Abby woke me up at 6:00 with a, “Come on, Dad.” She was greeted with a whole spread of gifts from the Easter Bunny. She was also surprised when she found out that the Easter Bunny had also hidden eggs around the townhouse, filled with M&M’s.

Later that morning, we went to an Easter Egg hunt sponsored by our church, First United Methodist of Winter Park. We had a picnic lunch and there was a big Easter Egg hunt with about 100 other kids. Abby collected a basket full of eggs filled with candy. Later she jumped in a Bounce House and got to ride a pony. She loved riding the pony and was smiling the whole time.

The next morning we went to church and when we got back we took some pictures outside the townhouse’s club house. The matching Easter outfits were supplied by Abby and Emily’s Nana and Poppy.

Christmas 2002

Abby opened many gifts for her first real Christmas. Here’s a few pictures from Christmas. She got into her presents early and opened one of the DVD’s that her Great Aunt Marci bought her. She was very excited about every gift she got. We had a big Christmas with everyone coming to us. We didn’t want to travel this year since the new baby was coming any day now. We had Jennifer’s parents and grand parents visit on Christmas Day and my parent visit on the weekend after Christmas. I received a digital camera as a present from Jennifer, which means that pictures will be put on the web site in a more timely manner. Thank you to everyone who sent gifts. Hope you had a merry Christmas.

Abby’s Bike Rideing

In November 2002 Abby tried once again to ride the bike that her Poppy gave her. She had fun checking the tires and helping pump them up. She needed a little help from her “De” in order to get moving. She still doesn’t get the notion that she needs to move the pedals in order to move the bike herself.

Kevin & Christi’s Wedding

On October 20th, 2002, my cousin, Kevin Clay, got married. My father was Kevin’s best man and I was an usher in the wedding. Abby got to go to the reception and visit with her grandparents and great grandparents. The DJ played Janet Jackson for Abby, but she didn’t want to dance. We think Abby has been traumatized by cats because Aunt Marci’s cat hissed at her during the visit.
